What it means re-use of water?
Re-use or recovery of water is a treatment of municipal or
industrial waste water which has as a purpose the removal of foreign elements and
micro-organisms so that the produced water is of specifications for use in
urban (watering, washing roads) or non-urban (irrigation) applications.
What does the term "gray water” means?
As "grey water" is defined municipal waste water of low load (e.g. waste
from shower/bath tube, sinks and washing machines). Respectively
black waters are considered to be the waste from the kitchen (due to
an increased proportion of fats and oils) and toilets (due to microbiological
load)
What is the European Green Deal?
The European Green Deal is a package of policy initiatives, which aims to put the EU on course for the green transitionwith the ultimate goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
It supports the transformation of the EU into a fair and prosperous society with modern and competitive economy.
It stresses the need for a holistic and cross-sectoral approach, in which all relevant policy areas contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the climate. The package includes interrelated initiatives covering climate, environment, energy, transport, industry, agriculture, and sustainable financing.
The European Green Deal was launched by the Commission in December of 2019 and the European Council took note of during the December meeting.
What is water footprint?
As water footprint of an individual or a company is defined the total volume of water used for the production of goods and services consumed. In Greece, the water footprint it is an average of 6400 liters per day per inhabitant, with only 3% to the immediate use of water.
